Job Description

We are looking for an experienced UK Corporate & Personal Tax Accountant to join a growing finance team. This role is responsible for managing corporate and personal tax compliance, preparing tax computations and returns, supporting clients with UK tax matters, and ensuring all work is accurate and completed within statutory deadlines.

UK business experience is an absolute requirement. Candidates without hands-on experience working with UK businesses and UK tax legislation will not be considered.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment and communicating confidently with UK-based clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

1. Corporate Tax
Prepare and review UK Corporation Tax computations and CT600 returns.
Calculate taxable profits and Corporation Tax liabilities.
Identify tax adjustments and allowable/disallowable expenses.
Manage corporation tax compliance deadlines and submissions.
Prepare supporting tax schedules and documentation.
Assist with tax planning and provide practical tax advice where appropriate.
Review company accounts to identify tax implications and opportunities.
Deal with HMRC queries and correspondence.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client tax records.
HMRC confirms that a Company Tax Return includes the CT600, supplementary pages, company accounts and tax computations. Corporation Tax returns are generally due within 12 months of the end of the relevant accounting period.
2. Personal Tax
Prepare UK Self Assessment tax returns for individuals.
Prepare personal tax computations.
Deal with employment income, dividends, property income, self-employment and other relevant sources of income.
Calculate Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax liabilities where applicable.
Identify legitimate tax-saving opportunities.
Manage personal tax filing deadlines.
Respond to HMRC queries and client correspondence.
Provide clear explanations of tax calculations and liabilities to clients.
3. Client & Practice Support
Manage a portfolio of UK clients and maintain strong client relationships.
Liaise with clients to obtain relevant financial and tax information.
Review financial information for completeness and accuracy.
Work closely with accountants and other members of the finance team.
Keep up to date with changes to UK tax legislation and HMRC requirements.
Maintain high standards of confidentiality, accuracy and professional conduct.
Ensure all work is completed within agreed deadlines and quality standards.
HMRC's guidance recognises tax advisers as professionals who may prepare tax returns, provide tax advice and act on behalf of clients in relation to their tax affairs.

Required Skills

Proven UK business experience — ESSENTIAL.
Hands-on UK tax experience — ESSENTIAL.
Strong experience preparing UK Corporation Tax returns and computations.
Strong experience preparing UK Personal Tax / Self Assessment returns.
Good knowledge of UK tax legislation and HMRC processes.
Experience working with UK companies, directors, shareholders and/or individuals.
Strong understanding of UK accounting principles and financial statements.
Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines and priorities independently.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Comfortable working remotely with UK-based clients and teams.
Strong Excel and accounting software skills.
