Job Description

Our client, is seeking an experienced Senior Statutory Accounts Accountant to join their growing UK accountancy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with strong UK practice experience who enjoys preparing high-quality statutory accounts, working closely with clients, and delivering accurate, compliant financial reporting.

The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of UK limited company clients, prepare year-end statutory accounts, identify and resolve accounting issues, and provide valuable insights to clients while ensuring all filing deadlines are met.

The successful candidate consistently delivers accurate statutory accounts on time, proactively identifies and resolves accounting issues, communicates confidently with clients, maintains excellent working papers, and contributes to the high technical standards and reputation of the practice.

Responsibilities

Prepare statutory accounts for UK limited companies.
Produce financial statements in accordance with FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 105.
Review client bookkeeping records and identify discrepancies, omissions, and accounting issues.
Prepare and maintain high-quality working papers to support statutory accounts.
Liaise directly with clients to obtain outstanding information and resolve accounting queries.
Analyse financial information and investigate unusual trends or variances.
Ensure all statutory deadlines are met while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
Work closely with reviewers and managers to deliver accurate, compliant work.
Continuously improve processes and maintain high technical accounting standards.
Build strong professional relationships with clients and colleagues.

Required Skills

1. Essential
3–5+ years' experience preparing statutory accounts within a UK accounting practice.
Strong knowledge of:
FRS 102 Section 1A
FRS 105
Experience preparing year-end accounts for UK limited companies.
Excellent understanding of UK accounting principles and compliance requirements.
Experience using one or more of the following: TaxCalc, IRIS, CCH Or similar UK practice software
Ability to review bookkeeping records and identify accounting issues independently.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
Able to manage multiple client deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
