About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller with proven UK SME experience to manage the full accounts receivable and credit control function.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is confident managing a debtor book, chasing outstanding payments, resolving account queries and maintaining accurate financial records.

UK SME experience is essential, and hands-on experience using Xero is essential.

Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end credit control process for UK SME customers.
Maintain and manage an accurate debtor book and aged receivables.
Raise and issue customer invoices and credit notes.
Monitor outstanding invoices and ensure payments are received within agreed terms.
Proactively chase overdue accounts via email and telephone.
Build professional relationships with UK customers and business owners while maintaining a firm and professional approach to collections.
Allocate customer payments accurately.
Perform customer account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
Resolve invoice, payment and account queries promptly.
Prepare and maintain aged debtors reports.
Identify high-risk and long-outstanding accounts and escalate where appropriate.
Agree and monitor payment arrangements where required.
Liaise with internal teams to resolve billing and account issues.
Assist with month-end accounts receivable processes and reporting.
Maintain accurate customer records and ensure all credit control activity is properly documented.
Continuously monitor outstanding debt and take proactive action to improve cash flow.

Required Skills

Proven hands-on Credit Control / Accounts Receivable experience.
UK SME experience is essential.
Hands-on experience using Xero is essential.
Strong understanding of UK credit control and accounts receivable processes.
Experience managing an aged debtor book.
Proven experience chasing overdue invoices and collecting outstanding debt.
Strong reconciliation and financial administration skills.
Confident communicating with UK-based customers and business owners.
Excellent written and verbal English.
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple accounts and priorities.
