Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Credit Controller with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on credit control experience, preferably within the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer accounts, ensuring timely payments, minimising overdue debt and maintaining healthy cash flow. The ideal candidate must have strong communication and negotiation skills, be comfortable dealing with business clients, and have the confidence to follow up on outstanding payments professionally and proactively.

Previous experience in an ICT, technology, telecommunications, software or IT services environment IS ESSENTIAL.

Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and maintain accurate account records.
Proactively follow up on outstanding invoices and overdue payments.
Contact customers via email and telephone to secure payment commitments.
Monitor debtor ageing reports and implement effective collection strategies.
Reconcile customer accounts and investigate payment discrepancies.
Resolve billing queries and account disputes in collaboration with internal departments.
Allocate incoming payments accurately and timeously.
Ensure credit limits are monitored and exceeded limits are escalated.
Prepare regular debtor reports and provide updates on collection performance.
Maintain accurate records of all customer communications, payment arrangements and follow-ups.
Build and maintain professional relationships with customers while ensuring payment terms are adhered to.
Escalate high-risk and persistently overdue accounts where necessary.
Assist with month-end reporting and debtor reconciliations.

Required Skills

Minimum 3 years of hands-on Credit Control experience.
Previous experience in the ICT, IT, technology, software or telecommunications industry is highly advantageous.
Proven experience managing business-to-business (B2B) customer accounts.
Strong understanding of debtor management and accounts receivable processes.
Experience with debtor ageing reports, reconciliations and collections.
Good working knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong negotiation, problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and meet collection targets.
