Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper with proven construction industry experience to manage the day-to-day financial administration and bookkeeping functions of a growing construction business.

The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping fundamentals, excellent attention to detail, and a good understanding of the financial processes unique to construction, including job costing, supplier invoices, subcontractor payments, project expenses, and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Accounting
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and financial transactions.
Process and reconcile bank and credit card transactions.
Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Prepare and process supplier and subcontractor invoices.
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on payments.
Assist with month-end close procedures.
Construction Accounting
Maintain accurate project and job-costing records.
Allocate costs and expenses to the correct construction projects.
Track project-related purchases, materials, labour and subcontractor costs.
Monitor project budgets against actual expenditure.
Process and reconcile subcontractor accounts.
Assist with tracking variations, purchase orders and project expenses.
Ensure project costs are accurately captured and reported.
Reporting & Administration
Prepare regular bookkeeping and financial reports.
Assist with cash-flow monitoring and forecasting.
Provide financial information to management as required.
Maintain organised digital financial records.
Assist with VAT/GST and other accounting requirements where applicable.
Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, clients and internal teams regarding financial queries.
Support the external accountant with year-end requirements.

Required Skills

3+ years' bookkeeping experience.
Previous bookkeeping experience within the construction industry is essential.
Strong understanding of construction accounting and job costing.
Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Experience with bank and supplier reconciliations.
Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar.
Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
Good written and verbal English communication skills.
